What is a sales pipeline?
A sales pipeline is the set of stages a lead moves through from first contact to a closed deal, and the record of who is at which stage. It shows what is likely to close, where deals stall and who needs a follow-up today. It only helps if it's kept up to date.
What a useful pipeline shows
- Each lead and the stage it's in, such as new, contacted, proposal sent, won or lost.
- The date of the last conversation and the next follow-up due.
- Who owns each lead.
- Where deals stall most often.
Why pipelines fall out of date
Updating a pipeline is admin that comes after the real work, so the busiest people keep it least current. Fewer, clearer stages and less typing make it easier to keep true.
Where Sequa will fit
Sequa will watch every conversation, draft the next follow-up in your voice and show who's ready to buy. It isn't built yet: join the early-access list to be invited as places open.
Questions
How many stages should a pipeline have?
Few enough that you will really keep them updated. Each stage should mean something you can recognize, such as "proposal sent".
